Don't Rain on My Parade, Chapter 5: What We Lost
The Portal Heights Mortuary was a clean, yet nicely-decorated building from the outside. Beautiful cherry blossom designs painted with flecks of gold on white, frosted-glass walls from outside in, as well as the cherry wood furniture and jade lamps inside were a gift from Monkey Khan. He left these and other décor in Portal on his historical visit to aid the Island after the former Guardian Knuckles’ last transformation into the demon god that was Enerjak. A period that the present Guardian would rather not relive. As she walked through the ornate dragon-bordered door of this hallowed place, old feelings began to creep along the edges of her consciousness. She was well-trained in keeping them at bay. No measure of pink jade and blue eastern fine china could pull apart old, thick scars.
She walked into a very ornate elevator and rose to the third level. Next to her was a very pretty violet swallow named Mariah. She had red head feathe

Chapter Two: In So Many Ways, Treason
A bell rang and Group C of the junior class of Portal East High settled in for fifth period Contemporary Literature. Oribel had devoured the last assigned book, a diary of a female highly misunderstood.
                                                       THE TRAITOR
I never spoke about this, even with my closest friends, but he lived in my house. We broke bread together, and shared many pleasant-and dare I say beautiful-memories. He was the first person to challenge me, to regard me as more than a little girl. He showed me that I could aspire to be more than just a figurehead, or a soldier fighting someone else’s battles. I owe him so much, and unfortunately, not

Chapter One: A Coward, Any Day
As one matures, they begin to understand the cost of being who they want to be- what they give up, or even who they give up. This may be premature, or even long overdue, but for some, life does not unfold in a linear sequence. It's a circular, spiraling cycle of lessons learned and retaught, feelings coming and going like the ebb and flow of an ocean tide.
"Oribel, I'm scared," said Alex, as he rubbed his eyes to focus. The little bear climbed up onto the end of the teen hedgechidna's bed.
"Hey, bad dreams?"
"No, just scared."
"Well, there's nothing to be afraid of."
"There isn't?"
Oribel-Ka frowned. There was everything to fear. She wouldn't be there to see Alex through it. It felt selfish, careless, and ungrateful to leave. She was weak because she couldn't do it. She couldn't kill the constable. Bear in mind, the Constable was an eagle of questionable morals. This was a shame, him being the first non-echidna officer to lead

When I saw the way Victor looked at me, I could not believe that I was hanging by a thread under a bridge about to fall one hundred feet to the icy waters below. There was nothing but adoration in those green eyes and they betrayed what he could not tell me. Of course, it wasn't until later that I really figured out what I saw that day. I was so frightened at that moment that I could only think about living, about how I was going to escape, and what I would have done if given a second chance. The family was on their way, but would they make it? As the rope continued to rip, I began to think of Maria.
Later that night, after Watson swooped down to catch us, I sat bolt upright in bed, tense by the sounds of inner monsters fighting for my attention. I could not get them to quiet down. Even with the comfort of those green eyes came the terror of the unseen, the unspoken, and that which could only be felt. I had never felt more alone. I had always been the strong type.
Not that I wa

I watched as they brought the little girl home. She was about my age, maybe a few months younger than me. She wore a sweet ivory dress with lace at the hem that fell just below her hips, to cover the necessary. She was too much for the dress, and it seemed more of an obscene mockery of innocence than a show of her tender age. She was only six but already wore her colors very well. If it weren't for the red at her eyebrows and at the tips of her quills, no one could find her at night. I remember when she first sat in the living room, legs inappropriately open, nibbling at the edges of a piece of peanut brittle and staring at the opposite wall as if it owed her. She seemed to have an area of toxic air surrounding her, as if anyone who moved closer than a certain distance would be poisoned. She sat there for three hours and then walked into our room, slamming the door behind her. I left her in there for another few hours until well into the evening.
See, I didn't know the ki

As far as I can remember, it's always been quite normal to have your family missing one or a few members, wandering mindlessly as slaves in an artificial city. I'd be ill at ease when a day came and went too quietly. It was subtly reassuring to hear the snaps of trees and a weak scream of loss and horror. A powerful wind would soon follow, and a blue streak would rip through, leaving peace in his wake. The world appeared then to not be shifting dramatically, and everyone was in their place. From Dr. Robotnik and his contamination to us hopeless Mobians, the world continued its symphony. Luckily for us, it had been long since the Doctor had the nerve to do much more than send assigned robots to snatch random victims for his sick projects.

There were days when the emerald sun blighted the fog mist that usually surrounded the Green Hills in the horizon, allowing a cool breeze to serenely caress the walls of New Mobotropolis. When those days came, it was said th

Ada Djobi (jo-BEE) and I were inseparable. From the moment our dads met up and brought her to my backyard, she never left. We were three then, and had the fires not wiped out everything, you could see the endless photos- of us in the pool, of us playing dressup, of us at ballet class, wearing the same outfit to preschool- we were sisters. Tobey Fishkill could tell you. Punched him in the nose in the first grade for calling Ada a "smelly sock." Of course, that's a big deal when you're six. We dreamed about forming a singing group but agreed we needed to find a third person, because a group of two could not be, as two meant a duo but three or more meant a group. Everything was important back then, and I wonder if I could ever find such dedication again.
Tortoise Shell Elementary School knew what we were about, and no one dared to challenge it. Even on the Memories Board in the cafeteria, the only picture of me or of Ada was one picture, and we were together

It's me, Jen. I've moved my fanart to this account to keep a focus on it here while I focus on other things in my other account. Fun, right? I really, really miss people and I needed time to figure things out. So here I am.

Hello there,

My apologies for the long wait regarding an introduction, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance and thank you for the watch. I'm hoping that you enjoy my gallery and everything that my profile in general has to offer, too.

I really hope to talk to you soon, so whenever you wanna chat feel free to send a comment!

-Amelia

(Sorry if the "copypasta" make me seem insincere about the gratitude, that's not the case... I'm just a little... well lazy when it comes to typing up the same reply to so many watchers..

...But at least it's better than just "Thanks for the Watch!"

Hai! Thanks for the greeting. I ready your history of Vyspirians and I have to say I am impressed. If my life wasn't going where it is, I'd probably become a desk potato and work on what I could bring to the table. Do keep writing. Never give up.
